The syncopated strum

The syncopated strum

- The syncopated strum we're about to learn is probably the most common strum on ukulele or guitar, it works on practically any pop or rock song, and even if it doesn't work, you can make it work. It's basically a pattern that goes down down up, up down up. So we're not articulating beat three. Let's try example 49. One, two, three, four. (plays ukulele strum) Now let's play a few songs using this pattern, starting with My Feet Hurt (Oy! Sole Blisters!) Here we go. One, two, three, four. (plays My Feet Hurt on ukulele) Now let's play one in the key of G called Autoharp Sale (Replace Old Zithers!) Here we go. One, two, three, four. (plays Autoharp Sale on ukulele) Here's one in the key of F called Dreams of Summer on a Gloomy Day (Haze, Cold, Misters) and in this one, we're going to strum with a little swing on the eighth notes. One, two, three, four. (plays Dreams of Summer on a Gloomy Day on ukulele)
