Learn how to play the mandolin. Get practice exercises to stay motivated, increase your speed and dexterity, and build your repertoire of solo and kickoff material.
(upbeat mandolin music) - Hi, this is course number two, Soloing Ideas and Kickoffs. In this course, we'll be looking at how to begin to make solos on bluegrass tunes. We'll be teaching you some classic tunes that are part of the bluegrass canon like Cuckoo's Nest and Red Haired Boy into Salt Creek and using these as jumping off points for beginning to find your own ideas, your own variations to these tunes.
And that will lead you to becoming able to solo in a bluegrass vocal tune context for instance. We'll also be looking at some classic kickoffs to some classic bluegrass tunes that everybody plays. In addition to that, this course has some finger-buster exercises. These are exercises for just loosening up the hands and getting this aligned nicely. So I wish you a lot of luck on your mandolin playing and I hope you enjoy the course.
This course is part two of the Mandolin Lessons series, which includes hundreds of lessons, exclusive performances, and special guest interviews. Make sure to check out the exercise files for downloadable tab, audio samples, and other study materials.
