- [Instructor] In the last video we began discussing how small ensemble scores are typically set up. Let's continue that discussion and start with the elements that appear on the first page of music. So as we look at this Brahms symphony score we can see that in the upper left hand corner of the music it says score. We see the title, and the opus number, and the name of the composer. The name of the music here is actually the tempo marking at the beginning and that's common in classical music of that period. Down on the left side of the page here we see the instrument names. And then I'll just point out how this is organized. So, we're in families. So we see the woodwinds up top, then we see the brass, percussion, and strings down at the bottom. There is one common bar line that goes all the way through the score, then the families are set off by this brace that encompasses the family.
