- [Instructor] Notating music for piano is a challenge. For example in solo piano pieces you have the additional challenges of pedal markings, fingerings, indicating independent voicings, in addition to articulations and dynamics. And piano pieces tend to have a lot of markings. Jazz and pop music have a whole different set of challenges. So let's take a look at notating music for the keyboard. Music for piano in general is notated on paper that's nine by 12 and about five to six systems per page. Now one of the things that you immediately have to deal with, with piano, that's different than other instruments, is indicating which hand is going to play which notes. And largely you do that by indicating, music in the treble clef for the right hand and music in the bass clef for the left hand.
