New strums

New strums

- In this lesson we'll be doing a rake strum. First let's start with a basic strum using swing eighths playing a C cord, example 54. 1-2-3-4 (soft ukulele music) Now to do a rake strum we'll be using our index finger and pulling up across the strings so they sound one at a time. (ukulele music) I like to do it at a slight diagonal which helps me separate the articulation of each string. (ukulele music) Instead of coming straight across the strings. Okay, so in example 55 we'll be doing the same basic strum with a C cord using swing eighth but on the end of two and the end of four, we'll be raking (ukulele music) across the strings on an up-stroke. Let's try it. 1-2-3-4 (ukulele music) Okay. Let's do example 56 with swing eighths and a triplet strum. 1-2-3-4 (ukulele music) Now in example 57 we'll be doing a rake strum on last eighth note of each triplet. Here we go. 1-2-3-4 (ukulele music)
