- Okay having played now all these closed position arpeggios and scales in all these different keys all over the neck, you should be getting to get comfortable now so that when you come across a funny chord, B let's say, you're in the key of G and you end up on a B chord, can you get there? This is the trick and really be in that new key during the time of that chord. So we're going to play Old Home Place now in the key of G, nice and slow and that's what I want you to focus on in this exercise is the chords are G, B, and then you're on a C chord and back to a G and this is all diatonically G, D, (mandolin music) G, B. So you're main goal here is to make that B chord, really get into the key of B. You're in this scale (mandolin music) for G but when you go to the B chord (mandolin music) you're in this kind of tonality. So that's the focus here. Let's have the rhythm track, cue G.
