- Alright, let's do the double drop D tuning. So now we're also going to take the E string, finish the E string, and take that down a whole step. Here are your tuning notes. D, thickest string. (guitar string vibrates) Then A. (guitar string vibrates) D. (guitar string vibrates) G. (guitar string vibrates) B. (guitar string vibrates) And thinnest string, D. (guitar string vibrates) (guitar strum) Let's go through some basic chords in that tuning. First we have D major here. (guitar chord playing) Here's another D major.
