The 12-bar blues

The 12-bar blues

- The 12-bar blues is a standard song form and chord progression. It uses the primary chords, the one chord, four chord and five chord. In example 58, we'll do it in the key of A. It uses one bar of the one chord, A, one bar of the four chord, D, and back to two bars of the one chord, A and then two bars of the four chord which is D, two bars of the one chord A and then one bar of the five chord E, one bar of four D, one bar of one A, and finally the 12th bar is one bar of the five chord E and that's the 12-bar blues.
