Sine waves and drum sounds

Sine waves and drum sounds

- Now, we're going to explore the sine wave, very special wave form, because, in theory, it has only one harmonic, the fundamental. That purity makes it particularly well-suited for things like frequency modulation, and amplitude modulation. I will explore both of those in the next chapter. It also has made the sine wave very popular for dance drum sounds, that low subsonic kick most of us know, and also those cheesy, do do do, tom-toms we had to live through back in the disco era. Well, in this movie, we're going to explore making those drum sounds, but, also, we're going to start diving into control voltage processors, and other tricks in the modular system to make a module do things it wasn't necessarily designed to do. Sine waves are actually very difficult to produce with analog circuitry. Therefore, a lot of analog oscillators don't feature since waves. You're actually more likely to find them on the digital modules, such as our braids, and our disting. And, even then, it's not…
