- [Voiceover] In the last video, I added drums to my musical idea. Let's hear what those sound like. I'm just gonna tap to go to the beginning of this song idea, and press play. (upbeat music) It sounds like we left things with a pretty simple, and pretty soft drum pattern. We can always go back and change that anytime, and since I'm about to add some bass to this, and I want you to hear what the bass sounds like.
I'm actually gonna turn the drums off. I can always turn them back on later. So, to turn the drums off, I'll press this little triangle to get out of that edit screen, and now I can see my drum icon at the bottom of the screen, and I'll press that, and now the drums should be off. Let's play, and see if we're right. (upbeat music) All right, no drums. Now, let's add some bass.
Anytime I want to go back to the beginning of playback, I can just touch wherever I wanna be here on the musical wave form, and now I'll press the bass icon to add bass, and the bass notes, and the chords that you're about to hear, referenced by those bass notes, have been assigned by Music Memos. (upbeat music) Okay, perhaps not what I would've chosen, but that's okay, we can go in and edit those notes.
If you look at the wave form, you can see that there are chord names above the wave form. Those chord names are what the bass notes, that you're hearing, are depending on, so to edit those, I press the C Minor seven icon, and now I can see which chord has been assigned to each block of music here, and I can listen. (upbeat music) So, I think the chord that I played there was some form of an A Sharp Major, so let's hear what's happened here.
(upbeat music) Okay, I guessed correctly. Sometimes you might play a chord with a note in the bass, which is not the root of the chord. So, let's here what that sounds like with this A Sharp Major chord. I can go to the bass here. Right now, it says none, so it's just playing A Sharp for the root, but let's try F, let's preview that.
(upbeat music) Okay, and I think I liked it better the other way, so I'll go back to none, and... (upbeat music) And, I'll go back to the beginning. I actually grabbed the region marker with the little round handle at first, and then I grabbed the playback head, now we're at the beginning. (upbeat music) And, there were ramifications to grabbing this region head, 'cause now I have the A Sharp goes too far, so now I have to fix this, and that was a C Major, I believe, so one more time, let's go back and hear if we're right.
(upbeat music) All right, well I can go back into this song at any time, and fix the rest of the chords exactly the way I want them, but I think this is fine for now, so I'm going to press done, and now I'm back into my track. (upbeat music) All right, and now let's see what options are available to us, as far as editing the bass sound, so I'll press the bass icon, here at the bottom, and right now we are hearing an electric bass, let's go ahead and change it to an upright bass.
(upbeat music) All right, a little more of a thump, a little less sustain, and I think I'm gonna switch it back to electric, I like the sustain there, and similar to the drums, I have this XY axis controller in the middle of the bottom where I can switch between loud on the top, and quiet on the bottom. (upbeat music) So, you may have noticed while I was playing back that I moved the XY controller over to the complex side on the right, and then in order to hear that better, I changed to upright bass, so we could hear nice strong attacks, and hear the additional notes that were being played.
Now, let's add the drums back in, and see what this sounds like with both the drums and the bass. (upbeat music) And, just remember, any of your music ideas are works in progress. You can always go back and change anything about the bass, the bass instrument, the drums, the drum kit, the level of complexity, the chords and notes that have been chosen, you can always go back and change anything to your liking at any time.
