- Okay, so we've figured out where we want to play now. Let's spend some time talking about making sure that that live show of yours is worth seeing over and over and over again. First thing's first. Thinking about how great your show will be is not the same as actually doing it. You need to practice playing live. A lot, as often as you can. So if you don't have a place to practice, the first thing you'll need to do is find one. When I think of all the things that a new artist or band could spend their precious money on, getting a place to practice would be near the top of that list for me. When you do practice, put together a great set list. Think of the dynamics and pace of all the great shows you've seen over the years. Take a page out of that playbook of all those big, successful bands. Start the show big. End that show big. That goal every night should be to take your audience on a little sonic journey with you. Put in your time, fine tune your live show. And then, you gotta go…
