- The final key element in putting on a successful show is the ticket price. When a band or artist is just starting out you should make it very, very easy to come see your shows by keeping the ticket price as low as you can. In the early days it might even be free. The idea is to play in front of as many people as possible and sharpen your chops as a live performer. As you become more successful and have a greater history and catalog of songs to play you can slowly raise the ticket price. But too often an artist will have just a sliver of success and their inexperienceed or just plain dumb manager or agent starts demanding ridiculous guarantees. The promoters too often fold, pay the guarantee and then have to to raise the ticket price to cover it. Sometimes you can get away with it, but your not making any friends with your fans who may take it out by deciding not to come around on the next tour.
