- It's one thing to write great songs. You could do that without worrying about image and branding, and all the stuff that comes with it. There have been lots of wonderfully talented songwriters who cranked out career-making songs for other people, never made a video, worried about their press photos, their image or their brand. But if you're a recording artist and a performer, crafting a strong image, identity or brand for yourself is hugely important. You paint that image with your songs, your photos, your videos, your interviews, your album artwork, your merch graphics. When all of those elements come together in a consistent and cohesive way, it defines your brand. The key to getting that right is understanding who you really are as an artist, and making sure that you present yourself in a way that reinforces that.
