- And it starts with the manager, so let's talk about the manager's role in this process. The manager will work closely with your agent and label to put together tours. The first thing that agent and manager will discuss is the timing of the tour. Typically, the manager will give the agent a window of time to book dates in a certain geographic area. For example, we want to play the U.S. between June and August, or we want to play festivals in Europe in September. That manager and agent will talk about what kind of venues they want to play and what they'd like the ticket price to be, and what kind of guarantees that manager would like to see. They'll likely talk about the promoters they'd like to work with as well. In most cases, a tour is likely part of a larger more integrated marketing campaign tied to the release of a record.
