- Okay, so now you've identified that great manager or they've found you, you've connected, and now you're gonna meet with that potential manager. I want to give you some thoughts on what you should be looking for. When you finally get that meeting with a prospective manager, it's important to remember that in the strictest sense, you are hiring the manager. He or she is going to work for you, not the other way around. In practice, though, the reality is that you're both auditioning for the job. You'll likely need that manager as much as he or she needs you. So when you're taking that meeting, I want you to make sure you talk about your dreams, you tell that manager what you'd like to accomplish in as much detail as you can. Ask questions, get to know each other, and don't just ask the soft questions, ask the tough questions as well. Ask your prospective manager about their experience and about their contacts.
