- Whether you are an artist writing and performing songs on your own, or working with a top record producer for a record label, or a music professional working with artists to bring those songs to life, those of us in the music business all live or die by the ability of those songs to make a connection with music consumers. And when all is said and done, that connection has to inspire those consumers to spend money to hear and see their favorite artist. If the consumers don't buy the singles, the albums, or listen to the streams of those songs, if they aren't inspired to pay or a ticket to a show or buy a t-shirt, it won't generate the money it takes to promote and make the music.
