- One of those folks is a gentleman by the name of Tom Kelly. Tom has had an extraordinary career as a songwriter. He's a member of the Songwriter Hall of Fame. he and his writing partner Billy Steinberg have written a bunch of number one hits including Like a Virgin for Madonna, So Emotional for the late Whitney Houston, and one of my personal favorite songs, a song called True Colors sung by Cyndi Lauper. A while back I had an opportunity to speak with Tom on Redman Live and I asked him what he thought the elements of a great song were. Here's what he had to say.
