- Once those songs are recorded, mixed, and mastered, you'll need to think about which configuration you want to release them in. Will you release a single, or an EP or an LP? If the goal of putting out your music is to build an audience where none previously existed, then you need to find ways to start that conversation and keep it going for as long as you can. So think of those 10 songs you recorded as conversation starters. If you choose to start the conversation one single at a time then you've got a chance to have 10 different conversations with your audience, and each time you turn a song loose into the world, it's a brand new conversation, and you've got 10 chances to win. If you split those 10 songs into three EPs then you can have three conversations and three chances to connect and start a relationship with a fan. But if you include all 10 songs in one album, then you can only have one converesation, and the only way that conversation keeps going is if they like the first…
