- In our first lesson about the big picture, we talked about this idea of getting the money. If you're in a band, you want to pay particular attention to this lesson. When you start a band, it's one for all and all for one, until you put some money on the table. Then things change. People change, memories fade, circumstances change, and when they do, all kinds of drama can break out. Having a band agreement in place helps take care of things when they go bad. I've worked as a band manager for the better part of my adult life, and during that time, I've witnessed just about every conceivable issue that could come up in a band partnership. This stuff can all be very esoteric and abstract, so I'll try to give you some examples that come to mind based on my own experience that will illustrate the key points.
