Jen Kramer explains the proper way to make a link with a tag, plus the href attribute. She also addresses how to get the page to open in a new window with the target attribute.
- [Instructor] Where would the web be without links?…Nowhere, that's where!…Links are critical to the functioning of the web.…Fortunately, they're pretty easy to code too.…Let's look at a few examples of how to link webpages…that are not on your site.…You're going to want to consider how links that go offsite…will be managed in terms of opening in the same window…or in a different window.…Generally speaking, I want links that go offsite…to open in a new window, not in the same window…so that I keep my website open as I send people…to other websites.…
Just be sure that you choose the same way every time.…Don't have a mix of links that open in a new window…and other links that don't.…If you're going to link to a different website…that's not your own,…choose one way of doing things.…Either they're all going to open in a new window…or they're not.…It doesn't really matter, but pick one.…That will be great!…We're going to start with 1-6-begin.html…and we're going to add some links to this particular page.…I'm going to show you how to do that now.…
