What's new in Motion 4

Motion 4 has some really existing new features that continue to build on its amazing real-time capabilities. These new features really polish Motion's already powerful 3D tools, and streamlining interface to give you just that much more control. For example, Shadows. You can create Shadows in Motion from both point lights and spotlights. Motion has full support for reflections known as Reflectivity. You can control Reflectivity on the individual layer or over the entire group. New camera features include Depth of Field, where you can fly your camera on the scene with a true representation of Depth of Field.

You can even animate those functions with keyframing or using some of the new behaviors. Behaviors. Now that camera supports Depth of Field, there is a new Focus behavior, to help you animate your focus easily to focus on individual objects within the scene. The new Camera Frame behavior makes it easy to move your Camera Raw on the scene. Always making sure to reveal the key areas in your scene by framing with precision. The new Link behavior can help you link the parameter of one object to control the parameter of another. Text has been completely overhauled with the new adjust Glyph tool.

Control over each individual letter in your type, as well as direct control over the text style directly in your canvas, and this power is also translated right into the new sequence Text behaviors and Motion. When you are finished with your projects, the new ProRes codec, specifically ProRes 4444, will help you compress your files to a smaller file size while still retaining really high quality. Once those files are all compressed, the new Share function built right in will allow you to create and upload your animations directly to YouTube or your iPod, or even MobileMe, with just one click.

With all these new features, I hope you are as excited as I am. So let's get started learning Motion 4.
