Invite friends and family to Microsoft Teams

- [Heather] If you want to keep in touch with friends and families in Microsoft Teams Personal, you'll need to invite them to connect. For this, you'll need to tap the menu in the upper left corner, and then tap Invite Friends. This takes you to a menu with many different choices of how you can share a link for them to connect with you. Depending on the apps that you have set up or the ways that you communicate on your device, you'll see the apps at the top that you can use. If this is a friend or family member that is nearby me, I might use Airdrop to airdrop that directly to their device, or I could use email account and send that link out by email, I could share that link in a OneNote notebook, or something else. In addition to the apps that you can use to connect with them, you can also copy this link and then paste it somewhere else or even save this link to the files on your device. For this example, I'm going to email this out to my friend, Jennifer. So I'm going to select Mail. That brings up a new email message, and notice that the subject is already populated, gives them some context of what this is about, I'd like them to join me on Microsoft Teams. And then in the message area, there is the link that they can use to download the app, sign in with their new account, and join me in a chat message. Okay, let's go ahead and enter an email address in the To field. We're good with the subject, we're good with the message unless we want to add something else to the message, or not in this case, let's go ahead and select the arrow to send it on its way. Once Jennifer selects the link, it will give her the option of downloading that app on her device, setting up her account, and then she will be able to chat with me. The message will appear for me to read in the chat area just as it would with any other chat messages. Along with the message that I would get from Jennifer prompting that she wants to chat with me, it's going to give me two choices, to block or accept the message. So when it's a new connection that is something that would be important for you to keep in mind. And that's how you can invite friends and family to Microsoft Teams.
