Staffing plan, part 1: Assign generic resources

Hi, I'm Bonnie Biafore. In this project tip I'll show you how to assign generic resources to tasks so you can build a staffing plan that shows how many resources you need by skillset. So let's start by going to the resource sheet. on the View tab in the Resource View section I'm going to click Resource Sheet. If you notice the Carpenter and the Crew have an icon in the indicators column and that shows that they're generic resources. If I double click that resource to open up the Resource Information dialogue box you'll see that the Generic checkbox is turned on, so it's a generic resource. Now the Max units is set to 100%, but in this case, we don't care about the Max units because we're trying to figure out how many we need. So we can just ignore that. Now we're going to assign a generic resource to the tasks to help determine how many we need. I'm going to go back to the Gantt Chart view. Let's start with task two…
