Combining WDS and MDT
- Now that we have our boot images, and now we've set up our image. Now here comes the exciting part. We just simply have to tell WDS about these boot images so that when WDS receives those PXE requests across the network, it can deliver that install.wim file to those clients. Now, what happens when that client gets that install.wim file? Actually, once it fires it up, it gets the Windows Preinstallation Environment, or PE, which, essentially, is the basic set-up wizard, is delivered to that client. They'll make a choice of what task sequence, or what operating system they want to choose. From then on, they then work off the DeploymentShare that's inside of MDT. So all WDS does, is answer that initial request, get the user started, then passes them along onto the DeploymentShare. But we first have to wire it up and connect those two services together.
