Selectively uninstall Office products

- [Instructor] Occasionally, you may find that you need to remove a subset of the Office applications, but not all of them, and the Office deployment kit allows you to do that. And the way that you do that is by configuring an XML file to tell Office which product you want to leave. So let's take a look. I've created an XML file called selective dot XML. I'll go ahead and open that up in Notepad. So here you can see that I've got a remove MSI section, but within that section I've got a line ignore product ID equals Visio Pro. So in other words, when I run setup and I specify this XML file, what's going to happen is that Office is going to be removed because I have the remove MSI section right there. But Visio Pro is going to remain in place because of the ignore product instruction. So let's go ahead and try this out. I'll go ahead and close this out and I'll open a command prompt window, and I'm going to type setup slash configure and then selective dot XML. And you can see that setup is starting. So setup has finished running and if I click on the start button I can see that Visio is still on this machine.
