Initiate directory synchronization
- [Instructor] Although Azure Active Directory automatically performs active directory synchronization on a scheduled basis, it is possible to manually initiate the synchronization process. And you can do that through PowerShell, so long as the AD sync module is loaded. Now the PowerShell cmdlet that you would use to manually initiate the synchronization process is start-adsyncsynccycle. Now that's not a typo, the cmdlet does use the word sync twice. Now typically when you use this cmdlet, there's one parameter that you're going to want to specify. And that parameter is policy type. The policy type parameter lets you specify the type of synchronization that you want to perform. For example, if you've never performed an Azure AD synchronization before, then you'll want to set the policy type to initial. And that's going to perform an initial synchronization.
