- [Instructor] So what does a DLP policy contain? Well, a DLP policy contains a few things. The first is where to protect the content. So this could be Exchange Online. It could be SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business sites, as well as Microsoft Teams chats and channel messages. It also contains when to protect the content and also how to protect the content. This is comprised of rules based on conditions and actions. For a condition, the content must match before the rule is enforced. For example, a rule might be configured to look only for content containing Social Security numbers that's been shared outside of the organization. The action is what you want to happen when the rule identifies and matches that condition. For example, the rule might be configured to block access to a document and then send both the user and the compliance officer, an email notification.
