Create a Planner board for project tasks

- [Narrator] A project involves many tasks 2 that need to be performed by several people. 3 Tracking task-related work is essential 4 to managing resources and making sure the project 5 stays on time and within budget. 6 A Microsoft 365 subscription includes a planning application 7 known as Microsoft Planner. 8 That's the app that you see here. 9 Let's take a look at how you can create a plan 10 within this app. 11 Before we create that new plan, though, 12 I think it's helpful for you to understand 13 what may already exist with a group 14 within Office 365 Groups, 15 or a team within Microsoft Teams. 16 When a group or a team is created, 17 there are connected services and apps 18 that are automatically set up at the same time. 19 This includes a plan that gets set up 20 with the same name as that group or that team. 21 And it's given the same name and connected automatically 22 to that group or that team. 23 That's why you're seeing the plans listed here 24 in the recent plans area. 25 Season events, and work in progress. 26 Right now, we're looking at recent plans 27 that are in the planner hub area. 28 And there may be more than that. 29 And you can select all plans 30 to take a look at those as well. 31 But we're going to create a new plan. 32 So let's go over here to the navigation area, 33 and select new plan. 34 Now, if you don't want to connect a plan 35 to an existing Office 365 group, 36 which is also a team in Microsoft Teams, 37 then you can type a plan name 38 where the cursor is currently blinking. 39 and then choose if it's going to be public or private, 40 add some additional options, 41 and then create that plan. 42 But we're going to take a look 43 at how can I add a planning board 44 Office 365 group. 45 So you can have several planning boards 46 that relate to a specific project 47 in that group or in that team. 48 Let's take a look at how we can do that. 49 We're going to select add to an existing Office 365 group. 50 Here is a list of the groups that we can choose 51 and set that new plan up for. 52 We're going to select the Red30 Tech Makers Conference. 53 And we're going to give that plan a name. 54 This plan has to do with the speakers 55 that are going to be speaking at this conference. 56 So let's call it speakers. 57 Then we're going to select create plan. 58 And here is our new planning board within Microsoft Planner. 59 It's titled speakers. 60 And it has one bucket called to do, to get us started. 61 And that's how you can create a plan with Microsoft Planner.
