- [Instructor] One of the things that you need to be thinking about early on as you plan your Microsoft Office upgrade is application compatibility. Some documents might not work correctly with newer versions of Office. Some of the things that tend to be a bit more problematic are documents containing VBA macros, the use of third-party add-ins, and documents that are overly complex, and this also goes for spreadsheets. So what should you be doing? Well, in lesson three, I'm going to be talking about a tool that you can use to check documents for compatibility, but before we even get to that, it's a good idea to begin talking to some of your department heads and assembling a collection of documents that are representative of what those departments generally use. You might ask for documents that are overly complex or documents that use macros.
