Using Smart Lock
- [Instructor] Now let's take a look at using AccuDraw to place elements using existing elements as reference points. Continue using the file for chapter three, Basic 2D Commands.dgn, and using View Groups, select the SMART LOCK model. In this exercise, I want to demonstrate how to lock the drawing angle to one of the compass axes to constrain an element. Select the Place Line command and issue a left click to start the line element. Drag the cursor in the X direction and move on and off the compass axis. At this point I can draw any angled line that I want. There are no constraints on the angle of a line. Using the keyboard, hit the Enter shortcut key. The angle of the line will lock to the nearest compass axis. Hit the Enter key again and the axis constraint is removed. This is Smart Lock. The only thing you see on the screen is a quick Smart Lock tool tip that appears briefly over the AccuDraw dialog. So how can I use this in a productive way? Using the Place Line command again…
