User preferences
- Now that we have spent several minutes going through all the different interface components, let's review the user preferences to tweak some of the settings that control the user interface. To access your user preferences, select the workspace pull-down menu and select Preferences. I am not going to go over all the preference settings available at this time, but I am going to point out a few settings that I think should be different from the start. The first setting that I want to take a look at is the Input category. When you select a category, the right side of a dialog will display that category setting. You will see this style of dialog quite a bit in MicroStation and it requires that you select a category first and then review the settings. The first setting I always like to change is the Allow ESC to stop the current command. Yes, this a direct steal from the AutoCAD interface but as an AutoCAD user as well as a MicroStation user, I like to take advantage of the similarity…
