- [Malcolm] Cybersecurity has developed rapidly over the last 10 or so years from a novel way of sharing information to ubiquitous technology that supports governments, business and society. I'm Malcolm Shore and I've spent a career helping governments and businesses protect their networks and systems against cyber attacks. In this course I'll be introducing you to the world pen testing. I'll start by explaining what pen testing is and how it differs from systems testing and hacking. And I'll look at some of the basic applications and techniques you should have mastered to start your career as a pen tester.
I'll cover the basics of batch scripting and we'll look at how python scripts can be used to do testing. I'll look at the basic network tools used for reconnaissance, provide a refresher on Kali and I'll cover basic testing of web services. I'll also demonstrate the exploit techniques used by attackers. This is the first of a series of courses in pen testing which together provide the learning pathway to taking your offensive security certified professional qualification.
