Join Malcolm Shore for an in-depth discussion in this video Exploiting with Armitage, part of Penetration Testing Essential Training.
- [Instructor] Armitage is a great visual tool…for carrying out both scanning and attacks on targets,…and appears in the application's Exploitation menu.…The Armitage screen has a menu at the top and three panels.…The four key modules are shown…in the top left panel, the network target…that Armitage knows about in the top right,…and a Metasploit terminal window at the bottom.…We'll run Armitage through its graphical interface,…but we can see the equivalent Metasploit commands…in the console.…
Let's have a look at the Metasploit database…that Armitage has loaded.…There are four top level items,…auxiliary, exploit, payload, and post.…The auxiliary group provides hundreds of tools…which can be quite useful during information gathering…and initial testing.…Scanners, brute force logins, and so on.…In the top level menu, we can see clients,…fuzzers, scanners, and many more.…Let's look at scanners,…and select mysql,…and then select the mysql_login.…
We can see that this is a module…which will attempt to brute force log into MySQL.…
Cybersecurity expert Malcolm Shore reviews popular pen testing tools, as well as the Bash and Python scripting skills required to be able to acquire, modify, and re-use exploit code. He also provides a refresher on Kali Linux and introduces techniques for testing web services.
