Join Malcolm Shore for an in-depth discussion in this video Adding the Trity tool to Kali, part of Penetration Testing Essential Training.
- [Instructor] Let's take a refresher on adding a tool to Kali. We'll clone a git repository called Trity, which is a newly released social engineering tool. It's based on the social engineering toolkit. Kali has a git client built in which allows us to directly clone Trity. Okay, we've cloned the repository. Now let's install it. Install.py is the installation script, but we need to make it executable before we can run it.
Okay, we can now install it. There's only one operating system currently to select, and I'll select that. Okay, so we've successfully loaded a new tool. Let's start it up and take a quick peek at what it offers. We'll need to enter yes to the legitimate use agreement.
We can enter help to see what social engineering modules are included in Trity. There's a few for us to explore. Let's run the Google option, which allows us to identify any website with a reference to a query string. Okay, we can see we've got some hits on johndoe. There's much more to Trity which you can explore at your leisure, but that's a refresher on loading additional tools.
Cybersecurity expert Malcolm Shore reviews popular pen testing tools, as well as the Bash and Python scripting skills required to be able to acquire, modify, and re-use exploit code. He also provides a refresher on Kali Linux and introduces techniques for testing web services. At the end of this course, you'll be prepared to take more advanced training, and to pursue the popular Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP) certification.
