Join Malcolm Shore for an in-depth discussion in this video Accessing SQLite databases, part of Penetration Testing Essential Training.
- [Instructor] When doing pen testing,…we'll often come across SQLite databases…on everything from browsers to mobile devices.…It's useful to have a way to automate access.…In order to build testing tools and to do manual testing.…We can do this relatively easily in Python.…I've extracted a cookie database from a Chrome browser.…Let's take a look at it.…Here we open the SQLite3 library…and connect to our cookies database.…We then execute a query using Select against the metadata…to find the tables in the database.…
Let's run it.…We can see the list of tables in this database,…including one called cookies,…which holds the text of the cookies…that have been stored.…Now let's look at the table cookies…and see what columns it holds.…Again, we open the SQLite3 library…and connect to our cookies database.…We then execute a query to select all fields…and print the field descriptions.…
This gives us a list of the field names.…Once we've found and identified the structure of the tables,…we can open a table and list data.…
Cybersecurity expert Malcolm Shore reviews popular pen testing tools, as well as the Bash and Python scripting skills required to be able to acquire, modify, and re-use exploit code. He also provides a refresher on Kali Linux and introduces techniques for testing web services. At the end of this course, you'll be prepared to take more advanced training, and to pursue the popular Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP) certification.
