Welcome

- Hi, I'm Nick, and I welcome you to this class on using Meshmixer for sculpting and shaping shapes into beautiful and or functional digital creations. Meshmixer is a fantastic tool for digital creation, allowing you to start with literally a flat plane, and build up from that humble beginning, to really copmlex and beautiful 3D models. Those models can live digitally, shared in portfolios or with your friends and coworkers, or end up in the physical world via 3D printing. This set of videos introduces you to the sculpting and shaping tools in Meshmixer. You will learn how to start with small beginnings, and build up shapes. But you can also start with 3D geometry you find online, or create yourself via the free 3D scanning tools I talk about in the other Meshmixer class. This set of videos is where we go into manipulating, selecting, tweaking, and generally controlling the meshes that you bring in to Meshmixer. You will learn techniques on affecting specific areas of your mesh, as well as more global tools to smooth out and refine your mesh. Whether you're a beginner sculptor, or work with meshes on a daily basis, the techniques in this class will be useful to you. I myself have a pair of very expensive 3D scanners, and I use the technique in this class on almost every single mesh I generate. Meshmixer has powerful tools that are accessible once you get some of the basics down, and that is what I'm here to show you today. So let's get started, and see you in the class.
