From the course: Meshmixer: Additive Manufacturing Job Preparation

Welcome

- [Ryan] Welcome to Meshmixer for additive manufacturing. I'm Ryan Kittleson, and I'll be taking you through the steps that you need to use in Meshmixer to get things ready to be fabricated on a 3D printer. Meshmixer is one of my favorite softwares for working with 3D models, because it's powerful while also being relatively easy to use, especially when it comes to preparing models for additive manufacturing. In this course, we'll start out by fixing any problems with the model, making sure it has the right scale, and giving it a sturdy foundation. Next, we'll see how you can print a model that is bigger than the printer by cutting it up into smaller pieces with interlocking tabs and slots. Next, I'll show you how to hollow out a model to save on material costs, and to make sure that it's thick enough to print. Last of all, we'll put the final touches on like adding support structures, and exporting for various printer types. Whether you're a 3D pro or just starting out, I think you'll find that this software is great for preparing models for fabrication. I'm excited to get started now, so let's get going with Meshmixer for additive manufacturing.
