Join Nick Kloski for an in-depth discussion in this video Tree-like support structures overview, part of Meshmixer: 3D Print Prep Basics.
- [Instructor] As I've talked about in previous videos,…Meshmixer straddles the line between the physical…and digital world, and in this video…I'm going to show you how to create…really customized support structures for 3D printing.…I have Meshmixer up here.…I'm going to import the bunny, like this.…And as you see, this bunny comes in with no base.…We're just going to very quickly fix that…by going to Analysis to Inspector…and just say Auto Repair All.…
And then Done.…What that does is it just puts a base on the bunny…and now the bunny is manifold.…Now in order to set this up for 3D printing…we need to do a few different things.…If we go up to here to View and say Show Grid,…we can see that this bunny is sitting…right on the base plane and pretty much…right at the origin, the center.…Now if this bunny were in some other orientation…if I hit the T key and transform it and move it,…all of that, you're 3D printer would drop the bunny…to the base plane and may move it towards the center,…but it would still be printing at this angle…
