- 3D scanning is one of the easiest and most fun ways of getting models into Meshmixer. Most of the tools out there are free. You can use your cell phone camera to take pictures of an object, and those pictures magically turn into a 3D model. But a lot of time, if you're using the inexpensive ways all the way up to the very, very expensive 3D scanners, the scans that you get are not perfect. So, enter Meshmixer. This series of videos will help teach you how to evaluate the scans that you create, how to fix common problems that happen with 3D scans, and how to prep your 3D scans for 3D printing. Now, Meshmixer 2.9 has a lot of tools available for actually manipulating and changing the mesh while keeping all of the color there. So, if you have scans out that have a certain amount of color in them, that color is preserved even as you sculpt and manipulate your scans, which is pretty cool.
