- [Instructor] This is an overview of the Extract Tool. This is my re-meshed bunny. I'll press W to show you that I have quite a few polygons in there. We're going to Select, and select maybe just the nose of this bunny. Nice good round selection there. And go up to Edit, to Extract, shift D. So you can see this is shift D and Extrude is D. So these two tools are tied a bit, so I'll show you what Extract does. Something kind of happened there, a shell popped out. So what we can do is say Offset, we just made an extraction of the bunny's nose coming off of the model. Different options right here, Offset, you can offset to a very specific distance, if you want. If you wanted to make different shells or whatnot. The direction is constant, same as the Extrude tool. This is constant so it calculates the center of your selection and then extrudes, extracts from there. Off of the normals means that every part of every triangle will get extracted.
