- [Instructor] For this tutorial I'm using a new project called cutting and recutting. Let's take a moment to review some of our core editing skills in the timeline window. I'm working right now on this Anesthesia Editing Skill sequence in the student lesson sequences bin. Broadly speaking, when you're working in the timeline window, you're working in one of two modes. You're either using the lift/overwrite mode or you're using the extract/splice-in mode. When the segment mode is set red or the trim type is set red, you're in the lift/overwrite mode. And in this mode, if you trim the end of a clip, for example, you're leaving a gap and the other clips in the sequence won't move to fill that gap. I'll just undo. And if you are using the segment mode tool and you pick a clip up and drop it somewhere else in the sequence, I'm holding Control here on Windows.
