Preparing the timeline for keyframing

- [Instructor] To work with key frames in the timeline window, there are two things that you need to do. The first is you need to make sure that this button is on. This is the Audio Keyframe Mode button. With this off, you can't add keyframes in the timeline window. You also can't modify existing keyframes. That's quite useful to know because when you're in the middle of working on a project, it's quite easy to accidentally click on an existing keyframe and move it when you're not intending to. So turning this mode off is a kind of defense mechanism against those kinds of errors. But, again, you'll need it on if you're going to add and modify keyframes in the timeline window. The second thing you need to do is display keyframes. And you can do this by clicking on this expanded track controls area. Click on the menu right in the middle and choose Volume.
