Join George Maestri for an in-depth discussion in this video mental ray materials, part of Maya 2016 Essential Training.
- If you want to dive deeper into materials,…you can start to use Maya's Mental Ray materials.…Now, these only work with the Mental Ray Renderer,…but they give you a lot of nice effects.…So, let's go ahead and just apply some…and see how they look.…I'm gonna go ahead and select this big sphere,…and we can get to these through…the Hypershape window, or through the menu system.…So I'm gonna go into LightingShading…and it's actually not one of these standard materials,…but we can find it through Assign New Material,…or we can find it in the Create Menu in the Hypershape.…
Either way, you'll come up to a menu that looks like this.…And if we click on Mental Ray Materials,…this will show you all the ones…that are available to us at this point.…So the one I want to look for is called…car_paint, and I'm gonna go ahead and select this,…and it applies to my existing object.…Then I'm gonna go into my Attribute Editor…to see some of the parameters here.…So I've got a number of parameters here.…One is Ambient Color, Base Color,…
