Join George Maestri for an in-depth discussion in this video Working with files and Maya projects, part of Maya 2016 Essential Training.
- Maya can use a lot of different data…that comes from different places.…It can use geometry data, it can have bitmap images…or textures, and all of this data needs to be organized.…So Maya uses a naming scheme called projects.…So basically a project is just a series of folders…that have known places for things to be placed.…So if we go out to our desktop,…you can see in my exercise files folder…we have a number of different folders,…one for each chapter, and each one of these…is a Maya project.…
So if I click on the chapter one folder,…you'll see that we have a number…of different subfolders here,…each of one has meaning or relevance to Maya.…So we have a scenes folder, which is very important,…because that's really where all of our scenes are located.…But these scenes may need images, for example.…So if we go back up, you'll see we…have one called source images,…which has all the images needed for the file.…We also have one called images,…which is where the rendered images go.…And we have a number of other different types of folders.…
