Volumetric lighting in Arnold

- [Instructor] Hi, I'm George Maestri and today we're going to take a look at volume lighting in Arnold. And this is kind of a classic smoke-filled room effect. So here we have a stage with a spotlight and the appropriate volume lighting. Now this will work for any sort of situation where you have dust in the atmosphere and you need volumetric lighting. So let's go ahead and get started. I've got a scene here called Stage-Start.ma and if we zoom out, you'll see that it's basically just a stage with a chair and a microphone. So let's go ahead and start off by creating a spotlight. I'm actually just going to use a standard Maya spotlight and we can get to that in one of two places, either under Arnold, Lights, Maya spot. Or we can go into Create, Lights, Spotlight, just like we always do. So the spotlight comes in a little bit small here, so I'm going to go ahead and scale it up just so we can see it.
