Using the exercise files

- [Narrator] If you have access to the exercise files that I provided with this course, go ahead and download those and extract them. If you don't have access to the exercise files, you can still learn Bifrost fluids using your own assets. If you don't have access to Mya itself, maybe you're on a mobile device or something, then you can still learn just by observation. Bifrost fluids are a little bit special because of their extreme hard drive storage requirements. For that reason I recommend that you place the Maya project folder on a secondary hard drive completely separate from the operating system. That's what I've done here. I have a second drive, which is the F drive. That's where I placed the exercise files. That way I know even if this drive fills up, it won't cause issues with the operating system. Let's set the Mya project folder. I've got Mya open already. By default, Mya is set to the current user's default project. If you're starting from scratch for a Bifrost project, you definitely want to make sure that you use a different project folder location. You want to create one, once again, on a secondary drive somewhere. In the Mya file menu we can go to project, project window. We can see the default location. Let's click new. We can call it Bifrost project. In this case I know where I want it to be. I can simply type that in. It will be on the F drive, just F: and \. I can click accept, and that folder structure is created. I can go to file open scene, and I'm taken to F:\Bifrost_Project/scenes, which is currently empty. If you do have access to the exercise files then set the project to wherever you unzip those files. Go to the file menu and choose set project. In the set project window choose exercise files and click set. Then when we go back to file open, we should be taken to the scene files for the course. Indeed we have been. One last note that's very important about those exercise files. Let's go back there for a second. That is that during the course you will create some data to go into this cache folder. That's where all those heavy files will be. Because of their size, I'm not able to include them with this course. If you open up any scenes and you don't get any playback, it may be because the scene file is referencing a cache that doesn't exist. We will look at how to manage caches as we go forward in the course. Just wanted to give you a heads up about that. That's how to use the exercise files and to set up the Mya project folder for the course.
