Join George Maestri for an in-depth discussion in this video Using the Ramp material, part of Maya 2015 Essential Training.
…The ray material is a very versatile material.…It's a little bit different than the standard blend…and font type materials in that it allows you…to change the color of an object, or the…transparency depending upon the angle that you look at it.…So let's take a look at this.…I'm going to start by creating a Nurb surface here.…And we're going to create a sphere.…And let's go ahead and assign the ramp material.…Now, we can find it on the rendering shelf.…It's this one here that's kind of rainbow colored.…But another way to do it is to actually create it through the Hypershade.…
So let's go through that and we can learn how to create materials in the Hypershade.…So we're going to go into Window>Rendering Editors>Hypershade.…And here we have the ability to create new nodes.…Right here.…Just by selecting any one of these buttons.…So, if I scroll down and find ramp shader and…click on that, that will actually create a new ramp shader.…And then I can select my object…and right-click and go assign material to selection.…
