Join George Maestri for an in-depth discussion in this video Using NURBS Extrude, part of Maya 2015 Essential Training.
…A more complex way of creating surfaces is to use an extrude.…Now an extrude uses two types of curves.…One is a profile, and the other is a path.…So what it does is it runs that profile along the path.…So here we have a very simple set up here that would make a nice extrude.…We have a circle, and we want to run it along this kind of semi-circular path.…Now when we create an extrude, we basically…have to select things in the proper order.…
We select the profile first the path second.…So I'm going to select my profile, my circle and then shift select my path.…Now green means that's the last I've selected.…So let's go ahead and go into Surfaces > Extrude.…Now when you extrude, there are some options that you may want to set.…But I'm going to leave these at default and…will take a look at this after the fact.…So I'm just going to go ahead and do an extrude,…and as you can see, it creates a very nice tube.…
But one of the things is that this isn't really locked to this path.…It's not quite there.…Well, we can affect the creation parameters to try and lock that in.…
