Join George Maestri for an in-depth discussion in this video Using the Move tool, part of Maya 2015 Essential Training.
…Now let's go ahead and get things moving by using the Move Tool.…In Maya the Move Tool is here on the side and the hot-key for that is w.…In fact, move, rotate, scale, and select are…actually have sequential hot-keys which makes it very convenient.…So if you remember q is select, right next to that is w, which…is move, e is rotate and r is scale.…So q, w, e and r.…
So if we select the Move Tool by hitting w,…notice how the cursor changes to have this little square here.…And this could work a lot like the select tool.…You can left click on objects to select them, but it also puts you into move mode.…So you can see this little gizmo shows up here.…Now this gizmo has three arrows of different colors,…and each color represents one of the axes in Maya.…Maya is a 3D program, so we have three axes.…
X is red, y is green, blue is z.…So you can see that here, on the bottom left hand corner of…the viewport, you can see a little axis here with x, y, and z.…So if you're ever confused, you can take a look at that.…But I can actually use this gizmo to move my objects around.…
