Three-point lighting

- [Narrator] Lighting can have a major effect on your animation, and you can approach lighting in many ways. We're going to compare two different setups. The way that we're going to explore in this video is the studio lighting setup. This kind of lighting can be useful if you want your videos to be very clear and instructional. There is a scene in your Exercise Files that we are going to work with in this video containing an environment of villi as rotavirus model from the protein data bank. The quickest way to light up your scene is to create a physical sky by going to Arnold, Lights and Physical Sky. If you open up the Arnold RenderView and press play you can see that instantly your whole scene is lit. There are a couple of settings that we're going to want to adjust when working with a physical sky. The first is the sun size. If you increase the size of the sun this is going to soften up some of the shadows in your scene. You can see that these shadows are softer. If I put this…
